About
I navigate off-trail into forest backcountry to photograph the quiet complexity of woodland landscapes.
Influenced by Eliot Porter, I work entirely with natural light, focusing on tonal relationships and the organic textures of intimate landscapes. Rather than isolating landmarks, the photographs remain within the landscape — trunks, ground, water, light, and time observed without staging or intervention.
“Much is missed if we have eyes only for the bright colors.”
“They think that half of nature can be destroyed — the uncomfortable half — while still retaining the acceptable and the pleasing side.”
— Eliot Porter
